So were any of you guys at the production in New Jersey last month? I was, twice, and it was amazing. I thought it would be fun to make a post with a sort of survey about what everyone thought of the production...

Who was your favourite member of the cast and why?
Were there any other standouts?
What was your favourite scene and why?
Any others that should be mentioned?
What was your favourite change from the New York production?

Who was your favourite member of the cast and why? Chris Cantalupo (Matt). Chris is now the definitive Matt for me. His version of the character was so much more human than Aaron's, it was easier to have sympathy for him. The character was actually memorable and likeable, as opposed to Aaron's version who tends to just fade into the background. Chris simply made me fall in love with Matt.

Were there any other standouts? The whole cast was simply amazing. But Donna Missal (Ivy) and Andrea Brooks (Nadia) were definately the two others that blew me away. Andrea captured many more facets of Nadia than either Keili or Natalie had in the past. And she managed to make Plain Jane Fat Ass work, it was more than just a song that was nothing but crude, and I think that that alone is a testament to how deep her character is. She had a way of stealing the stage in group numbers too, she's still the part I remember the most from Auditions. As for Donna, she made me fall in love with Ivy. Instead of thinking that this was a stereotypical misunderstood teenage girl who's more a caricature than anything, I could look up at her on the stage and think "I know that girl". She brought me to tears multiple times in the show and blew me away with her vocals. Seriously, I can't believe that that girl's only 16.

What was your favourite scene and why? One Voice. The way they merged Jason's funeral and the graduation together was flawless. It gave us a much more real look at how Jason's death impacted each of the characters. And I feel that the lyric change from "no" to "one" gives the show a much more poignant message.

Any others that should be mentioned? Once again, they were all amazing but Are You There?, Portrait of a Girl, One, All Grown Up, and Promise probably finish off my list of favourite scenes.

What was your favourite change from the New York production? I loved a lot of the changes, but my favourite would have to be the reworking of the finale. Everything from the candles, to the added instrumental sections to give more time to show the characters' reactions, to the lyric change, to the graduation slideshow that broke my heart into a thousand tiny pieces was simply perfection.
